About

“Some history lessons must never be forgotten. As the last eyewitnesses to historical events pass away, we need institutions to safeguard their memories. This is why the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk has been created”.

With these words actress Maja Ostaszewska introduces the video which we produced in cooperation with Nolabel for the Gdańsk Museum, currently under development. A 12-minute picture was first shown on September 1, 2015, on the 76th anniversary of the outbreak of the war, during an open day at the construction site of the premises at Wałowa Street in Gdańsk.
The film narration takes us step-by-step on a tour around the “heart of the Museum” – the permanent exhibition, which is going to be one of the largest exhibitions in the world dedicated to that period. Located 15 metres underground, it will cover an area of over 5000 m2 and present almost 2000 rare exhibits.

Its aim is to show the cataclysm of war from different perspectives, not only of soldiers but also of ordinary civilians, whose fate was linked with the history of the greatest military conflict of the twentieth century.

The opening of the Museum is scheduled for autumn 2016.
