Przemyśl Fortress Command Center
2024
How do you turn an unfinished pavilion, left to decay for 15 years, into the vibrant heart of a historical narrative? For the Przemyśl Fortress Command Center, we created a modern educational and exhibition space. Across nearly 2,000 m², we built a venue whose raw architecture evokes a military bunker and transports visitors into the realities of the longest siege of World War I.
Modern technology in the service of history
On two floors of the adapted building, we implemented advanced exhibition solutions. The raw interior provides a perfect backdrop for an engaging story about the mighty fortifications of former Galicia.
To fully immerse guests in the realities of the era, we designed a space full of interactive and multimedia stations. Visitors will find here, among other things:
– Realistic experiences: An engaging 5D cinema and a reconstructed period railway carriage.
– Interactive details: A virtual fitting room with historical costumes, multimedia games, and telescopes.
– Modern visualization: Advanced scale models and holographic projections.
A tribute to the fallen – the Hall of Remembrance
An important and exceptionally moving element of the exhibition is the “Hall of Remembrance of the Fallen.” It is a dedicated space for reflection, where we provided a specially designed app. With it, guests can locate the burial places of specific soldiers who fought and died during the dramatic siege of the Przemyśl Fortress.
Barrier-free accessibility and versatility
We ensured that the entire building meets the highest standards of universal design. The space is 100% adapted to the needs of people with disabilities – it is equipped with, among other things, glass elevators, induction loops, and precisely laid-out, collision-free circulation routes.
The revitalized building is more than an interactive exhibition. We also designed a modern conference room with modular walls, a food and beverage area, and a viewing terrace. An architecturally problematic, unfinished structure has become one of the city's largest year-round tourist attractions, and an excellent starting point for discovering the history of the Przemyśl Fortress.
