Fire Museum in Żory – modernization of the permanent exhibition

After a break of several months for the modernization of its permanent exhibition, the Fire Museum in Żory has reopened to visitors. The new edition, operating under the name Fire Museum 2.0, is a comprehensively updated educational space that combines interactive stations, modern multimedia and experiences that engage all the senses.

The aim of the modernization project was to update the exhibition's narrative, strengthen its interactive layer and adapt the exhibition to the expectations of today's audiences – especially families and school groups. The museum reopened on January 17, 2026. New Amsterdam designed and carried out the modernization.

A new narrative and interactive experiences

The modernized exhibition explores the theme of fire in the context of science, culture and everyday life. The exhibition was designed as a space for active discovery – visitors don't just observe phenomena, they experiment and experience them for themselves.

The modernization introduced:
– new interactive stations and multimedia elements,
– updated educational content,
– solutions that engage the youngest visitors,
– refreshed graphic and spatial design.

The new edition of the museum combines education with fun, building an experience based on experimentation and direct contact with physical phenomena.

The nature of the project

The modernization of the Fire Museum is an example of updating an existing exhibition based on new technologies and contemporary standards of interactive exhibition design. The project aimed to preserve the recognizable identity of the place while strengthening its educational function and its appeal to a wide audience.

Fire Museum 2.0 is a space where science meets experience, and fire – as a physical phenomenon and a cultural symbol – becomes the starting point for a multidimensional story.
