Z Wiatrem i Pod Wiatr
Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków
2025
Over 3,000 m² of impressive space, 7 thematic zones, and a story that lifts you off the ground. For the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, we comprehensively designed and delivered the largest exhibition in Poland – and one of the largest in Europe – dedicated to civil aviation. It is a multidimensional story of passion, technology, and pushing human limits.
A modern exhibition and interactive zones
The exhibition is divided into 7 seamlessly interconnected thematic zones that clearly guide visitors through the successive stages of aviation's development.
To make the visit more engaging, we enriched the exhibition with immersive elements. A key highlight is a special zone with interactive flight and paraglider simulators. It is a space where every visitor can safely take the controls and test their skills at piloting, takeoff, or aerobatics, feeling the emotions experienced by real aviators.
Spectacular scale and careful storytelling
The exhibition is housed in a modern building erected on the exact site of the historic hangar of the 2nd Air Regiment. In this unique space, we brought together hundreds of carefully selected artifacts, building a comprehensive story – from pioneering attempts to harness the wind to the present day and the history of LOT Polish Airlines.
On proud display in the scenography we designed are, among other things:
– Pioneering visions: A replica of the historic Akar glider and a sculpture of Jan Wnęk – a folk visionary and the “peasant Icarus.”
– Champion machines: Legendary gliders and aerobatic aircraft, including the famous Zefir 2A (on which Edward Makula won the world championship), the Zlin Z 50LA, and a perfectly restored Wilga PZL-104.
– Rarities and details: The original basket of the first balloon to cross the Baltic Sea to Sweden, as well as historical uniforms of LOT Polish Airlines cabin crew.
Design, Multimedia, and Universal Access
As experienced creators of exhibition spaces, we placed great emphasis on comfort, multimedia, and full inclusivity.
The exhibition is fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. We implemented advanced audio guides with narration that meets WCAG 2.1 standards. We complemented the entire visitor route with dedicated multimedia and rest zones that allow visitors to explore the history of Polish aviation freely and comfortably.
“Z wiatrem i pod wiatr” is proof that Polish civil aviation has developed continuously, overcoming all turbulence. We are proud to have translated this inspiring story into the language of modern design and to have created a project on a European scale.
