Energy Science Centre

Kielce Technology Park
2015

About

The Kielce Technology Park is having a new part designed and executed by our company – the Energy Science Centre. Located in a former vocational school building at Olszewskiego Street in Kielce, the space has become a place where science and fun go hand in hand and educational meetings inspire creative experiments. The main theme of the Centre is energy, e.g. ways of generating energy and its practical application.

The area of more than 500 m2 houses: an educational exhibition, 3D cinema, auditorium and glassed-in Power Generator laboratory for carrying out scientific experiments in biology, chemistry and physics. On the one hand, the interior of the Centre visually reminds visitors of a factory equipped with heavy and complex machinery, on the other hand, of the Nautilus – Captain Nemo’s submarine from Jules Verne’s novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. The industrial world is being introduced and guided by the host and mascot of the ESC – cartoon character Glutek [Gluetech].

The interactive exhibition includes 23 experimental stations. They are presenting in accessible way, among others: how the process of coal combustion works, where oil comes from, and how wind turbines generate energy. The narrative of the exhibition is a story divided into thematic zones resembling the four elements: Earth, Fire, Air and Water. The fifth zone brings the rest together and focuses on Man and the ways we use energy in everyday life. The visitor is able to choose from several paths leading through the entire exhibition or presenting only selected topics, e.g. history of mining, water transport or ecology.

Individual stations are connected by a multimedia Energy Pipeline, whose main task is to customise visits to the centre. Visitors are receiving a transmitter recording their movements and decisions on individual accounts. The results obtained during the experiments are converted into virtual energy and the correct use of stations is being rewarded with energy points. At the same time, anyone who irresponsibly uses disallowed levers and buttons will be warned by visual and audible warnings. Ranking of the winners – energy giants – is available on the ESC website.

The Energy Science Centre was opened 18 November 2015. The investment costed PLN 3 million. It was co-financed with EU funds under the Operational Programme Development of Eastern Poland. The exhibition is fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. We implemented the project in co-operation with Fabryka Dekoracji and Nolabel.
